The combination of forces in different planes creates a high speed outward material flow, resulting in laminar shear within the material, giving a pure mixing action in all parts of the sample.
Feature
The Speed mixer is an economical laboratory-sized instrument for the rapid mixing and grinding of small amounts of different materials that would otherwise require large amounts of time and/or effort to mix / grind.
The speed mixer works exclusively through the use of centrifugal force. This allows the homogeneous and bubble-free mixing of various materials within a very short time and with minimum effort. The mixing can be done in disposable cups as well as re-useable cups. No additional mixing tool is required.
The Speed mixer is useful for 1 and 2 part Silicones, epoxies, polyurethanes, polysulfides, polyesters, acrylics, plastisols, paints, inks, greases, pastes, creams, hot melts, pigments, fillers and a wide range of other materials.
Applications
With this instrument, fluids of disparate viscosities can be blended quickly. Powders of widely differing densities can be made into a homogeneous blend in 10 to 12 seconds. Powers can be treated with liquids in similar time frames. Flushed colours can be mixed with varnishes in 20 medium in a matter of a few minutes or less. Therefore, the mixing of a paint or some quality testing can be done within minutes. For grinding, suitable media such as glass or ceramic beads can be used.
The typical mixing time for fully dispersing a powdered pigment into a silicone sealant is less than 10 seconds;for fully mixing fumed silica or precipitated chalk silicone formulations 8 to 14 seconds will normally suffice. These are both operations that would otherwise require three hours or more of mixing time, and they can only be done in quantities of 250g or greater. Additional mixing time removes air from the blend, yielding a finished product when the mixing process is done.
As usual, the mixing can be done in disposable or re-useable cups and mixing in cartridges is possible as well. Using short cartridges of different types, up to 350g of material (for the DAC 400) can be mixed. Alternatively a previously mixed blend can be filled into cartridges with no air entrapment.
